Diploma in Electrical Engineering

This programme deals with the technology of electricity.  The student will work on a wide range of components, devices and systems, from tiny microchips to huge power station generators. The student will also be able to design and develop new electrical systems, solves problems and tests equipment. Further study and apply the physics and mathematics of electricity, electronics, and electromagnetism to both large and small scale systems.

Technician Certificate in Electrical Engineering Parts I and II

The student will also be able to design and develop new electrical systems, solves problems and tests equipment. Further study and apply the physics and mathematics of electricity, electronics, and electromagnetism to both large and small scale systems.  This programme is offered on a Day release basis and caters for persons already employed in industry.  One must successfully complete Part One in order to proceed to Parts II and III respectively.

Elementary/ Technician Certificate in Telecommunications

Elementary is for one year providing that the student does not have CXC, but a student with CXC will advance to the Technical Certificate.  This programme involves Digital, cellular and private business exchange communication technology

Small Appliance Repairs – Level 1

To achieve the Caribbean Vocational Qualification (CVQ) in this programme requires completing 19 mandatory units along with 2 Level One and 1 Level Two electives.  This course will allow the student to acquire competency in carrying basic repairs to electrical and electronics devices.

Electrical Electronics Maintenance  – Level 2

To achieve the Caribbean Vocational Qualification (CVQ) in this programme requires completing 32 mandatory units.  This course will further allow the student to acquire competency in carrying out basic repairs to electrical and electronic devices.

Refrigeration and Air Conditioning – Level 1

To achieve the Caribbean Vocational Qualification (CVQ) in this programme requires completing 7 mandatory units along with one elective.  This course will allow the student to acquire competency in effectively carrying out work in relation to residential air conditioning and refrigeration activities.

Refrigeration and Air Conditioning – Level 2

To achieve the Caribbean Vocational Qualification (CVQ) in this programme requires completing 18 mandatory units along with two electives.  This course will allow the student to acquire competency in effectively carrying out work in relation to commercial air conditioning and refrigeration activities.

Electrical Installation – Level 1

To achieve the Caribbean Vocational Qualification (CVQ) in this programme requires completing 17 mandatory units.  This course will allow the student to acquire competency in effectively carrying out work in relation basic electrical installation activities.

Electrical Installation – Level 2

To achieve the Caribbean Vocational Qualification (CVQ) in this programme requires completing 30 mandatory units.  This course will allow the student to acquire competency in effectively carrying out work in relation advanced electrical installation activities.
